The liver is a critical organ for many physiological processes including nutrient metabolism, lipid and cholesterol balance, vitamin storage, endocrine signaling, immune system support, detoxification and drug metabolism. Diagnosing the exact cause of liver cell damage is challenging and can involve advanced testing and invasive diagnostic procedures.
